What is OCR and Voting disk:
The voting disk is a file that manages information about node
membership, and the OCR is a file that manages cluster and Oracle
RAC database configuration information. The Oracle Clusterware
installation process creates the voting diskand the OCR on
shared storage.
OCR is used to
manage to manage Oracle cluster-ware and it’s component such as RAC database,
listener, VIP,Scan IP & Services. Note:- Minimum one and maximum 5 copies
of OCR is allowed.
Voting Disk manages
information about node membership. Each voting disk must be accessible by all
nodes in the cluster. If any of the cluster node is not passing heat-beat
across other node or voting disk, then that node will be evicted by Voting disk.
Minimum 1 and maximum 15 copy of voting disk is possible.
